I custom-built these brushes for Procreate because I just couldn’t find any that felt natural enough for me, but I love the flexibility of working digitally on an iPad in Procreate. Making them available to everyone started when I offered the Fountain Pen on my Instagram page for friends – a lot of people kept asking for it and telling me I should sell it, so here it is! – along with a bunch of other brushes I made in the meantime. There are images showing what the brushes all look like.

I think the act of drawing with them is different from other pens – I built the glass-pens and felt-tip pens to bleed a little in the corners. If you keep the pen down on the paper – when you pull a line to a mark you just made, it bleeds together like real ink on paper. The edges of most of these brushes are not aliased – but they are high resolution – this way, selections are clean, and I use some of these in building screen printing separations, so I want very crisp edges. Also, they look more photocopied – zine-style, which I like. The color Zine markers have a unique buildup of color, making things look very handmade – I have included a few marker pallets to help draw lighter colors and some instructions on how to use them.

I also included a file with my paper texture. You can find a ton of those online, so I didn’t include more of them.
My goal is to have as few brushes in procreate as possible that all do something unique, so I tried to streamline the number of iterations here. And that’s why I don’t have a ton of watercolor or calligraphy pens as well – there are already a ton out there – I wanted these to be different, and I just haven’t seen them out in the wild much. As I was building my Risograph brushes, I saw a couple more prominent brush producers release some; mine are pressure sensitive rather than having a brush for each percentage opacity– so very flexible. And there are four unique riso textures – overlaps will look more realistic.

You can always duplicate a brush and play with the settings – These are mostly dual brushes, so it can get a little complicated to tweak them. Please feel free to share with personal friends, but don’t resell or distribute them online in forums or anything. These are unique brushes; I did a lot of testing, adjusting, and creative problem solving to get them where I like them. If you like them, please leave reviews and share with friends. Have fun with them!
