Remove Your iPhone from Find My: How to Do It Right

By following these steps, you can ensure that your iPhone is removed from the Find My network. Here are the steps to turn off Find My on iPhone & iPad:

On Your iPhone:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap your name at the top of the screen.
  • Select “Find My.”
  • Tap “Find My iPhone” (or “Find My iPad” or “Find My iPod” depending on your device).
  • Toggle off the switch next to “Find My iPhone.”

Using iCloud on your Computer:

  • Open a web browser and go to iCloud.com.
  • Log in with your Apple ID credentials.
  • Click on “Find iPhone.”
  • In the top center of the screen, click on “All Devices.”
  • Select your iPhone from the list.
  • Click “Remove from Account.”

If You No Longer Have Your iPhone:

  • Open the Find My app on another Apple device or use the iCloud website.

  • Click “Remove from Account.”

How to check if a device is still in Find My?

To check if a device is still in Find My, follow these steps:

  • Open the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  • Tap on the “Devices” tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Look for the device you want to check. If the device is still in Find My, its location will be displayed on the map.
  • If the device is not in Find My, you will see a message that says “No location found” below the device’s name.

How to use Find My to locate a device?

To locate a device using Find My, you can follow these steps:

  • Open the Find My app on your Apple device or go to iCloud.com/find on a computer.
  • In the Find My app, tap on the “Devices” tab at the bottom of the screen. On iCloud.com, select the device from the All Devices list on the left.
  • If the device can be located, its current or last known location will be displayed on the map. If the device can’t be located, it will show “No location found” or “Offline” below the device’s name.
  • You can also play a sound on the device to help locate it. Additionally, you can turn on the “Notify When Found” option to receive a notification when the device is located.
